Freida Parton - Nothing Like A Momma's Love - Digital Single

“Nothing Like A Momma’s Love,” the first single from Freida Parton’s forthcoming album, The Crops Came In, is a loving memorial to Parton’s mother, Avie Lee Parton, who passed away in 2003. Fusing traditional mountain ballad themes with modern pop and rock sensibilities, the song is also a tribute to the women that Parton calls her “three mommas.”

 

“My momma, Avie Lee, is who I first learned music and the old songs from,” Parton says. “Then there’s my oldest sister, Willadeene who told me about how things were before I was born, and she helped Momma raise all of us. And then there’s Dolly, who looked after me and my brother Floyd when we were 13 because Momma was sick at the time. She made sure we kept writing songs and kept us in line.”
